I’m excited to share that I’ve been nominated for the Nordwestkunst 2025, a prestigious award celebrating contemporary art from Northern Germany. This biennial prize, organized by the Verein der Kunstfreunde für Wilhelmshaven e. V., has long been a vital platform for recognizing outstanding artistic talent in the region. This year, the competition received an overwhelming 500+ applications, reflecting the vibrant and diverse artistic landscape of Northern Germany and its neighboring areas.
The Nordwestkunst 2025 exhibition will take place at the renowned Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven from March 29 to May 11, 2025. Founded in 1913, Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven is the city’s oldest cultural institution and has been a cornerstone of the German art scene for over a century. Since 1968, it has been housed in a striking Bauhaus- and Brutalist-inspired building that offers a dynamic space for contemporary art exhibitions, encompassing painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and sound art.
The Nordwestkunstpreis itself is more than just an exhibition—it’s an opportunity for artists to gain regional and international exposure. Alongside the group exhibition, the award includes a solo exhibition for the winning artist, accompanied by a published catalog and an honorarium the following year. The prize highlights not only the creative output of artists from Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Westphalia, and the Netherlands but also underscores the importance of fostering cross-border artistic dialogues.
I am honored to be among this year’s nominees, showcasing my latest work alongside an inspiring group of artists, including Laura Bossert, Elko Braas, Serafima Bresler, Lotti Brockmann, Belia Zanna Geetha Brückner, Collectif Grapain, Manuela Grupe, Gruppe Stumpf, and many others. My contribution to the exhibition will reflect my ongoing exploration of the intersection between architecture and the human body, a theme central to my manifesto 'Architecture as a Human Body.'
Being recognized by such a prestigious institution is a meaningful milestone in my artistic journey. I look forward to sharing more updates as we approach the exhibition opening in March 2025. Stay tuned!
