Where I Am Now

After Surgery: Where I Am Now

A few weeks ago I received a diagnosis that changed everything: a large brain tumor in my right frontal lobe. According to the doctors, it had probably been growing slowly for 5–10 years. During this time, it shifted brain structures and most likely influenced my personality, concentration, and reactions in ways I didn’t fully understand until now.

I underwent surgery to remove it. The operation was successful, but the recovery is not simple. Right now, I am in a rehabilitation. Daily life is very structured: therapy sessions, exercises to rebuild stamina, training to improve focus and memory. I get tired quickly, sometimes after just reading or talking for a short time. Progress comes step by step, with good days and difficult days.

Looking back, many things make sense now. The changes in my energy, mood, and behavior were not only “me” but also the result of the tumor pressing on my brain. Realizing this is both strange and relieving. It feels like I am getting to know myself again, without that constant pressure inside my head.

At the same time, the experience is forcing me to slow down and rethink my path. Questions like “Who am I without this?” and “What do I really want to do from here?” are present every day.

For now, my focus is simple: recovering, regaining strength, and being patient with the process. I am grateful to the medical team, to my family and friends, and to everyone who has shown support during this time.

This is not an easy journey, but it is a clear one: step by step forward.
